Kazakh woman found dead in Poland
Kazakhstani citizen Yekaterina Shilova, who went missing in Poland under suspicious circumstances, has been found dead, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan confirmed, according to Zakon.kz.
Preliminary reports indicate that Shilova was murdered. Her sister stated that a suspect in the killing has been detained.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan confirms the death of citizen Ykaterina Shilova on Polish territory. The Kazakh embassy in Poland is in contact with her family and the relevant Polish authorities and is providing full assistance on consular and legal matters, including repatriation of the body,” the ministry’s press service said.
Shilova disappeared on February 26, 2026, in Warsaw. She was due to fly to Astana on 18 February but never boarded the plane. The case remains under close monitoring by the Kazakh authorities.
