Kazakhstan, Austria push for uninterrupted oil supplies via CPC

Kazakhstan and Austria have discussed the security of international shipping and the uninterrupted supply of Kazakh crude oil to European markets, with particular attention to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) route.

Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev and his Austrian counterpart, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, held talks on the issue, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s press service said.

The sides stressed the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the route, through which a significant share of Kazakhstan’s oil is supplied to Austria, accounting for about 56% of the country’s crude oil imports.

The foreign ministers also exchanged views on current international and regional issues. Kazakh FM congratulated Austria on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028 and expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to continue constructive cooperation within the organisation.

The two sides also stressed the importance of maintaining regular contacts and reaffirmed their readiness to further develop practical cooperation in line with agreements already reached, including those following Federal Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger’s previous visit.
