Kazakhstan begins audit of Defence Ministry over budget spending

Kazakhstan’s Supreme Audit Chamber has launched a state audit of the Ministry of Defence to review the use of budget funds.

“The Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan has launched a state audit of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan to assess the effectiveness of budget funds, as well as issues related to the material and technical support of military units,” the chamber said in a statement.

The review of the Defence Ministry’s operations, including financial and material and technical support for military units, is being conducted on the instructions of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

A commission has been established and instructed to report its initial findings on the work carried out within seven days.
