Kazakhstan blast: Gas cylinder explosion injures civilians, officers VIDEO
A gas explosion in a residential building in the city of Shakhtinsk, Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan, has left eight people injured, including five police officers.
The blast occurred when a domestic gas cylinder’s gas-air mixture ignited, Caliber.Az reports via the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
Emergency teams arrived at the scene within four minutes of receiving the alert.
“Upon arrival, we found that furniture and household items were on fire,” the MES statement said. All eight injured individuals were taken to a medical facility for treatment. The fire was fully extinguished by emergency services over an area of approximately 40 square metres.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause and circumstances of the incident.
No fatalities have been reported at this time.
