Kazakhstan border post fire kills serviceman, child
A soldier and his child have died following a fire at the Narynkol border post in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region, authorities confirmed.
According to the press service of the Border Service of the National Security Committee, the blaze broke out on December 6 in a service dwelling on the premises of the post, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.
Firefighters from the Emergency Situations Department responded to the incident and brought it under control.
“The fire resulted in the deaths of a serviceman and his child,” the statement read, adding that a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the incident.
The Border Service extended its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and confirmed that all necessary support is being provided.
