Kazakhstan excavation disaster traps five under soil, kills several

Five people were buried under soil during excavation work in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region.

The collapse occurred at a depth of approximately six meters, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.

Before emergency services arrived, one person was rescued by company workers.

Rescuers later recovered two more individuals from under the soil. They were examined by a Disaster Medicine Centre medical team and handed over to ambulance services.

The bodies of two deceased victims were also retrieved from the debris.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched over violations of occupational safety regulations.
