Kazakhstan, Greece discuss CPC pipeline and energy security

08 August 2026 16:29

Senior officials from Kazakhstan and Greece have discussed bilateral cooperation and the strategic role of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) in global energy supplies, according to Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry.

Yerzhan Ashikbayev, First Deputy Foreign Minister, met with Greek Ambassador Antonia Katsoura to review ties in energy, trade and transport, the ministry said.

“The parties exchanged views on the situation surrounding the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which is of strategic importance for ensuring the export of Kazakh oil to European markets. The importance of stable operation of energy infrastructure, uninterrupted and sustainable supplies of energy resources to international markets, as well as ensuring the safety of vessels and freedom of maritime navigation was emphasised,” the statement said.

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium, a key export route, carries approximately 80% of Kazakhstan’s crude oil shipments to international markets.

Katsoura reaffirmed Greece’s readiness to expand cooperation across areas of mutual interest, including energy, trade, investment, transport and humanitarian ties.
