Kazakhstan tests security readiness in counterterrorism drills
Kazakhstan is holding counterterrorism exercises in Taraz, Jambyl region, to test the readiness of law enforcement and security agencies to respond to terrorist threats, according to the Regional Counterterrorism Operational Headquarters.
It said the drills, titled Taraz-Antiterror-2026, are aimed at assessing the ability of law enforcement and special services to respond rapidly to potential terrorist incidents, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Kazakh government.
The exercises include practising measures to neutralise possible terrorist threats and improving coordination among participating agencies.
Authorities have urged residents and visitors to be understanding of the drills and any temporary restrictions on vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
The public has also been advised to follow safety precautions and comply with lawful instructions issued by government officials.
