Kazakhstan backs proposal to host IsDB Group meeting in 2028
Kazakhstan could host a meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in 2028, following discussions between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and IsDB President Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser.
Tokayev expressed support for the proposal during his meeting with Al Jasser, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
The Kazakh president noted that the IsDB Group has provided more than $4.2 billion in financing to Kazakhstan over the course of their cooperation, while the portfolio of ongoing and prospective projects exceeds $3 billion.
In recent years, the IsDB has approved the largest financing package in its history for Kazakhstan, including a $1.15 billion Water Resources Development Program and a $1.3 billion framework agreement to support infrastructure development in the country's special economic and industrial zones.
