Kazakhstan offers Germany joint production of rare metal components
Kazakhstan is offering Germany not only guaranteed supplies of critical raw materials but also the creation of joint production facilities based on them, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wrote in an article for Handelsblatt.
“We are offering our German partners not simply guaranteed supplies, but the joint creation of complete production chains — from geological exploration and extraction to processing, component manufacturing and the reuse of materials,” Tokayev noted.
According to the president, Kazakhstan already produces 21 of the 34 types of raw materials considered strategically important to the European economy. They include lithium, silicon, cobalt, niobium, tungsten and copper, which are used in the energy transition, mechanical engineering, industrial production, microelectronics and digital technologies.
