Kazakhstan ready to explore space together with Türkiye
Kazakhstan is ready to explore space together with Türkiye.
“The flight of Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravci to the International Space Station as part of the Ax-3 mission is a harbinger of the successful implementation of Türkiye's space programme,” Kazakhstan’s third cosmonaut who was in space and the first cosmonaut who was in space under the flag of independent Kazakhstan Aidyn Aimbetov told Anadolu Agency.
As part of the Soyuz TMA-18M crew Aimbetov flew for the first time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome to the International Space Station on September 2, 2015 and spent 9 days 20 hours 13 minutes 51 seconds in space.
Aimbetov noted that he met with Gezeravci at the 34th Planetary Congress in Bursa, Türkiye in 2023 and wished him success in his mission.
He emphasised the importance of international cooperation in space research. Kazakhstan is ready to cooperate with Türkiye in this sphere.
Aimbetov said that for this purpose, the Kazakh side negotiated with the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) in 2023.
He noted that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to cooperation with Türkiye in the exchange of space satellite images, primarily in emergency situations and natural disasters.
