Georgian president, Turkish official discuss regional developments
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili held a face-to-face meeting with Numan Kurtulmuş, President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, during a recent visit aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries.
The leaders discussed both bilateral and multilateral relations, exploring opportunities to expand collaboration across multiple sectors, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kavelashvili’s post on Facebook.
The Georgian president expressed gratitude to Türkiye for its support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and confirmed Tbilisi’s interest in hosting the next session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
Regional security issues were also central to the talks. Kavelashvili highlighted Georgia’s commitment to a formula for peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus and expressed support for ongoing efforts by Azerbaijan and Armenia to establish lasting peace.
The leaders further addressed the Russia-Ukraine conflict and discussed avenues for enhancing economic cooperation.
Kavelashvili emphasised that existing regional and strategically significant projects demonstrate effective partnership, sustainable development, and mutual reliability between Georgia and Türkiye.
