Syrian foreign minister to visit Türkiye

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani will travel to Türkiye on August 13, 2025, Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry announced.

The visit comes amid ongoing regional diplomatic activity and heightened discussions between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports. 

The visit follows Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s trip to Damascus on August 7, where he met interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. After the talks, Fidan praised Syria’s progress since the overthrow of longtime leader Bashar al-Assad in December and said both countries aimed to deepen cooperation.

Türkiye has been building closer relations with Syria’s post-Assad authorities, who are seeking investment to rebuild infrastructure devastated during more than a decade of civil war. 

Fidan’s Damascus visit was his third since December, signaling Ankara’s sustained diplomatic engagement with the new leadership in Damascus.
