Kazakhstan refutes Armenia's actions as formal CSTO exit
Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vasilenko has said that Armenia didn’t take legal actions to suspend its membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).
"This we de facto see Armenia's statement on the suspension of its participation in the CSTO. As far as I know, Armenia has not taken any legal actions to suspend its membership in the CSTO. That is, de jure Armenia is not suspending its membership in the CSTO," Vasilenko said on the sidelines of the Senate on February 29, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakhstani media.
As the deputy foreign minister explained, the organisation will continue to exist even after one of the countries withdraws.
He also added that the CSTO plays an important role in Kazakhstan's security.
