Kazakhstan rescues 145 people stranded by snowstorm Over past 10 days / photo
Over the past 10 days, from February 11 to 20, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) rescued 145 people, including 17 children, stranded due to severe winter weather.
Blizzard conditions, icy roads, strong winds, and near-zero visibility left many motorists trapped, prompting extensive rescue operations, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry.
In addition to the people saved, 48 vehicles were freed from heavy snow drifts across the country. MES teams are patrolling the most challenging stretches of road using high-mobility vehicles to locate and assist stranded drivers.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with personnel working around the clock to provide aid and ensure the safety of travellers on Kazakhstan’s highways.
