Kazakhstan resumes oil exports via Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline
Kazakhstan’s state oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) has resumed exports of Kashagan crude through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline after a month-long suspension.
On September 13, a shipment of 8,800 tonnes was dispatched from the Kazakh port of Aktau to the BTC system, with the next delivery scheduled for September 20, according to company officials. Exports along the route had been halted in August, Caliber.Az reports.
In the first eight months of 2025, Kazakhstan transported around 0.9 million tonnes of crude via the BTC, a key corridor that allows Central Asian oil to reach Mediterranean markets by bypassing Russia.
KazMunayGas and Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR signed an agreement in 2022 to enable the transit of Kazakh oil through Azerbaijan. A follow-up deal in 2024 set out plans to gradually increase volumes shipped along this route.
