Kazakhstan’s Almaty makes public transport free on Kurultai election day

Public transport in Almaty, Kazakhstan, is free of charge for passengers on August 23, the Regional Communications Service announced.

Kazakhstan is holding elections for deputies of the Kurultai today, and fares on public transportation in the city will not be charged throughout the day.

“Passengers who are charged a fare on August 23 will have the money automatically refunded. No additional requests are required,” the statement said.
