Kazakhstan’s Bitcoin miners deliver billions in crypto output

Kazakhstan’s licensed cryptocurrency mining pools produced approximately 7,200 Bitcoin between 2023 and May 2026, the country’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development said, citing EnergyProm.

The highest annual output was recorded in 2024, when miners produced around 3,400 BTC. Production totaled approximately 2,300 BTC in 2025 and 519.5 BTC during the first five months of 2026.

Kazakhstan currently has 78 registered mining entities and more than 465,000 mining devices listed in the national equipment registry. Between 2023 and 2025, the mining industry contributed about 35 billion tenge ($75 million) in tax revenue to the state budget.

New rules governing strategic digital mining came into force in Kazakhstan on August 1. Under the framework, eligible miners can receive stable electricity supplies directly from energy producers at capped tariffs in exchange for transferring 10% of their cryptocurrency output to the state.

Kazakhstan has also legalized cryptocurrency mining powered by electricity generated from associated petroleum gas at oil and gas fields. Authorities say the move could promote more efficient use of energy resources while encouraging investment in the regions.
