Kazakhstan's new Constitution to drive next wave of reforms, president says

Kazakhstan's new Constitution, which enters into force on July 1, will provide the foundation for further reforms and usher in a fundamentally new stage in the country's development, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

Speaking at the 12th International "Aibyn" Military-Patriotic Youth Gathering, Tokayev said the new Basic Law has already set in motion a comprehensive transformation of Kazakhstan's state and public institutions, Kazinform reports.

"The new Constitution has already initiated a comprehensive reboot of all state and public institutions. Such profound transformations have never taken place in the 35-year history of our country, let alone earlier. These reforms are aimed at steering Kazakhstan toward progress and technological advancement based on high-quality science. The country needs patriotic young people with knowledge, determination, and a commitment to serving their homeland — the Republic of Kazakhstan," Tokayev said.

The president stressed that even the most carefully designed government initiatives cannot succeed without public unity, national cohesion, mutual tolerance, and solidarity.

"This is precisely the fundamental significance of the Basic Law. The Constitution is a strong and unshakable platform for uniting all constructive forces and true patriots around our nation's strategic goals and reform agenda. Our new Constitution is a moral and legal compass, a guide for life that will direct all of us—especially the younger generation—toward achieving social stability and ensuring a dignified life for citizens through respect for the law and the interests of the entire country," Tokayev said.
