Kazakhstan’s Tokayev meets US special envoy, deputy secretary of state

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with U.S. Special Representative for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor and First Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, who arrived in Akorda for talks.

Prior to visiting Kazakhstan, Gor and Landau had visited Uzbekistan. The U.S. State Department stated that “Special Envoy Gor and Deputy Secretary Landau will meet with Kazakh and Uzbekistani government counterparts to discuss a wide range of economic and security issues.”

According to the department, the visit reflects Washington’s commitment to developing partnerships with Central Asian states and maintaining dialogue on regional stability and development.
