Kazakhstan, Türkiye presidents discuss strategic partnership, upcoming summits

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Zakon.kz reports.

According to the Akorda press service, the leaders exchanged warm greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and the Nowruz festival at the start of their conversation.

President Erdoğan congratulated Tokayev on the successful nationwide referendum and the adoption of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution, noting that this was made possible by the Kazakh leader’s wise and confident policies. He expressed confidence that the new Constitution will provide strong momentum for Kazakhstan’s continued development and the strengthening of its domestic and international potential.

Tokayev thanked Turkish observers for their active participation and assistance during the referendum, highlighting the traditionally brotherly and friendly nature of relations between the two countries.

Erdoğan also emphasised the importance of his upcoming state visit to Kazakhstan on May 14, which will include a meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and an informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States.

Tokayev agreed on the significance of the planned high-level talks in Astana for further strengthening bilateral strategic partnership, and expressed high hopes for the Turkic States summit in Turkestan. He noted that the Kazakh people would welcome the Turkish president’s visit warmly.

In turn, Erdoğan invited Tokayev to attend the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya in April, an invitation which was gratefully accepted.
