Kazakhstan, Türkiye set to sign maritime accord
Kazakhstan and Türkiye are set to sign a comprehensive maritime agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the maritime sector.
The draft agreement, titled the "Maritime Agreement between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye," outlines a broad framework for collaboration between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
Key objectives include the regulation and development of maritime relations, promotion of coordinated maritime trade, and enhancement of navigation safety. The agreement also provides for the mutual recognition of professional seafarers’ diplomas, facilitating workforce mobility between the two nations.
Furthermore, the pact emphasises joint efforts in modernising and constructing ports and vessels, as well as advancing multimodal transportation systems. It seeks to boost the development of the port and shipbuilding industries, fostering greater economic ties.
The scope of the agreement is wide-ranging, addressing issues such as port access, shipbuilding, workforce training, and environmental safety, underscoring the commitment of Kazakhstan and Türkiye to deepen their maritime cooperation.
