Kazakhstan unveils ballot paper ahead of parliamentary elections PHOTO

Kazakhstan's Central Election Commission (CEC) has presented the ballot paper that will be used in the election of deputies to the country's unicameral Parliament, the Kurultai, according to Kazakh media.

CEC member Mikhail Bortnik said a draft of the ballot paper's design and text had been prepared in both Kazakh and Russian.

"The ballot paper is double-sided and printed on A4 paper. It is light blue in colour. The front side features the national emblem and the title of the ballot paper. The reverse side lists the political parties in the order determined by the draw held on 23 July 2026, along with a 'Against all' option. Proposals have also been prepared for the ballot paper's security features, including offset-printed anti-counterfeiting measures, as well as specifications for colour, typeface and other protective elements," Bortnik said.

Voters will be required to place a mark in the empty box next to their preferred option.

As of August 3, 12,605,788 voters have been registered on the electoral roll.

Kazakhstan is currently holding its election campaign, which will continue until midnight on 22 August. Voting is scheduled to take place on August 23.
