Kazakhstan, US mull strategic partnership, energy cooperation

First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Akan Rakhmetullin, and US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, convened the sixth meeting of the Commission on Enhanced Strategic Partnership between Kazakhstan and the US.

Zakon.kz reports citing Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan that the meeting took place in Washington on May 31, 2024.

Participants also reviewed the outcomes of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu's visit to the United States in March of this year, including his discussions with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

The discussions encompassed cooperation in energy and critical minerals.

On March 26, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, engaged in talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Washington. The dialogue focused on advancing the expanded strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States across political, trade, economic, and humanitarian domains. Secretary Blinken acknowledged Kazakhstan's leadership in various global issues.
