Khamenei’s adviser: “West does not define terrorism — it uses it”
Senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Shamkhani, said on January 30 that Tehran would respond immediately to the European Union’s decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation.
According to Caliber.Az, Shamkhani made the remarks in a post on the social media platform X, where he criticised what he described as the West’s selective and distorted use of the term “terrorism,” accusing both the US and Europe of applying double standards.

“The West does not define terrorism — it uses it: facilitating killings in Gaza, installing terrorists and creating instability are called ‘policy,’ while the IRGC’s fight against ISIS is labelled ‘terrorism,’ which shows how the US and Europe have distorted this concept; countermeasures will be taken immediately,” Shamkhani wrote.
