Kremlin condemns Israel's attack on Syria
Russia is against Israeli strikes on Syrian territory because they could drag the Arab country into the Middle East conflict, Russian president's special representative for the Syrian settlement Alexander Lavrentiev told TASS.
"We know that the number of air raids conducted by Israel, as it claims, against the facilities of pro-Iranian groups on the Syrian territory has risen. We categorically refuse to accept this way of solving the problem, because it is only going to escalate. We do not want Syria dragged into regional conflict, we will do everything to prevent it," he said.
Al Hadath TV reported that an Israeli air strike on Damascus killed General Yousef Omid Zadeh, commander of the intelligence service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Al-Quds special forces. He was killed along with several other Iranian officers and Syrian military personnel.
