Kremlin confirms upcoming Putin-Trump phone talk to discuss US-Russia relations, Ukraine

A telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump is set to take place today, with discussions expected to focus on the normalization of Russian-US relations and the situation in Ukraine.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, confirmed the upcoming call to journalists, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

Peskov addressed recent remarks by Trump, who suggested that Russia and the US had already reached agreements on several key issues. In response, Peskov acknowledged that there had been various discussions between the two nations, including talks involving US president’s special envoy Witkoff in Moscow, meetings in Istanbul, and an initial telephone conversation between the two presidents.

"Indeed, there have been certain discussions. Witkoff was in Moscow, there were talks in Istanbul, and earlier there was the first telephone conversation between the two presidents. So there is a certain understanding, certainly. But there are also a large number of issues: further normalization of our bilateral relations and the Ukrainian settlement. All this is to be discussed by the two presidents," Peskov stated.

The phone call, which is expected to be held between 16:00 and 18:00 Moscow time, comes as both countries seek to navigate their complex diplomatic relations and address ongoing global issues, including the war in Ukraine.

Peskov further confirmed that the call will indeed take place within the designated time frame, marking another step in the evolving dialogue between the two world leaders.
