Kremlin dismisses impact of potential Tomahawk missile deliveries to Ukraine

29 September 2025 14:38

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has downplayed the potential impact of US Tomahawk cruise missile deliveries to Ukraine, asserting that no weapon—regardless of its sophistication—can decisively alter the dynamics on the battlefield in Kyiv’s favor.

Peskov responded to questions about how Moscow would react to the possible deployment of American Tomahawk missiles in the ongoing conflict, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“Let us first formulate our position, assess the potential threats stemming from such deliveries, and understand which parties would be involved in the process. Only then can we define our response,” Peskov said.

He stressed, however, that even in the event of such a transfer, Ukraine should not expect any strategic breakthroughs. “There is no silver bullet—no magic weapon—that can fundamentally change the situation at the front for Kyiv,” he emphasized.

Peskov specifically included the Tomahawk missile system in that assessment, signaling that the Kremlin views such advanced weaponry as insufficient to reverse the course of the war.

On September 28, US Vice President J.D Vance disclosed that the White House is currently deliberating the potential transfer of Tomahawk cruise missiles to select NATO member states. These allied nations would, in turn, be expected to reallocate the missiles to Ukraine.

Vance noted that the ultimate decision on the matter rests with President Donald Trump, underscoring that the President will act in accordance with what he deems to be in the best interests of the United States.

This statement follows earlier remarks from the White House asserting that Washington is deriving strategic benefits from the continued provision of military aid to Ukraine.
