Kremlin expects no visit by Iranian president to Russia during New Year holidays
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has announced that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is not expected to visit Russia during the upcoming New Year holidays.
“During the New Year holidays - I don't think so, no,” he told reporters on December 24, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev, during his visit to Iran, conveyed an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin for Pezeshkian to visit Russia "in the early days of 2025."
Savelyev expressed the "readiness of the Russian government to conduct negotiations and organize the trip" of the Iranian President to Russia.
Prior to this, Putin had invited Pezeshkian on a separate visit to Russia to sign a new strategic partnership agreement. Iran's Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, noted that the agreement between Iran and Russia on strategic partnership "must be concluded by the presidents of the two countries during a separate visit."
