Kremlin: No decision made on Putin's participation in presidential election
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that no decisions have yet been made about Putin's participation in the 2024 presidential election as a self-nominated candidate.
He said this in response to a request to comment on the publication of Kommersant, as Russian journalist Ksenia Sobchak writes in her Telegram channel "Ostorojno Media".
Earlier, Kommersant, citing sources, wrote that the presidential administration was considering the option of Putin running for president as a self-nominee who would be supported by an initiative group of prominent public figures.
"No decisions have been made on this matter yet," Peskov said in response to the Telegram channel's question.
Sobchak noted that the date of the presidential election should be set by the Federation Council no later than 18 December 2023.
