Moscow: No plans yet for Putin talks with Erdoğan or Trump

28 July 2025 14:40

The Kremlin has indicated that, at present, no meeting is planned between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, despite expressions of interest from Ankara.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that while the Turkish leadership has voiced political will to facilitate high-level dialogue, particularly involving the Russian and U.S. presidents, no concrete arrangements are currently under discussion, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

“There is a declared political will on the part of President Erdoğan, but no substantive groundwork has been undertaken,” Peskov noted, referring to speculation about a potential trilateral summit in Türkiye.

Peskov also dismissed suggestions that preparatory work was underway for a bilateral meeting between Presidents Putin and Donald Trump, citing the absence of any formal contacts or coordinated efforts.

He reiterated, however, that President Putin remains open to such a dialogue. “President Putin has said he is preparing for a potential visit.

If, by coincidence, the U.S. President were to travel to China at the same time, a meeting on the sidelines cannot be entirely ruled out should both leaders find themselves in the same city,” Peskov added.
