Kremlin: Putin ready for another meeting with Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin remains ready to hold another meeting with US President Donald Trump, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

Peskov, speaking about the prospects for further contacts with Washington, said Moscow continues to view another Putin-Trump meeting as possible.

Addressing potential talks with Ukraine, Peskov reiterated the Kremlin’s position that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could travel to Moscow for negotiations if he wished. However, he said a meeting between the two leaders would be premature without first thoroughly addressing outstanding issues at the expert level, calling such a step a “waste of time.”

Peskov said Moscow currently sees no clear indications of a return to a peace negotiation track over the Ukraine conflict, while maintaining that Russia remains open to dialogue.

The Kremlin spokesperson also criticized what he described as the “continued militarization of Ukraine” and European efforts to secure additional funding for weapons purchases.

Peskov further accused the governments of the United Kingdom, Germany, France and several other European countries of continuing to fuel “Russophobic sentiments.”
