Kremlin: Russia open to US mediation in Ukraine peace talks
Russia is prepared to engage with the United States as a mediator in efforts to peacefully resolve the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated.
Speaking to reporters, Peskov reaffirmed Moscow’s stated preference for diplomatic solutions over military confrontation and acknowledged the role of Washington in facilitating dialogue between conflicting parties, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Our president has repeatedly stressed that we consider peaceful means the most desirable path toward achieving our objectives,” Peskov said. “If these means can be realized through the mediation of the United States, we are prepared to make use of such efforts — which, in fact, we are currently doing.”
Peskov went on to express gratitude for the involvement of the US administration, singling out President Donald Trump and his team for their diplomatic initiatives amid what he characterized as a “highly complex and delicate situation.”
“We are all thankful to the American administration, to President Trump and his team, for their efforts in attempting to launch a peace process — although we fully recognize the immense difficulty of that task,” Peskov added.
