Kremlin sees no expectations from US envoy’s visit to Kyiv
The Kremlin does not hold any expectations regarding the visit of US Presidential Special Envoy on Ukraine Keith Kellogg to Kyiv, but considers it important that he continues Washington’s mediation efforts to resolve the conflict, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a briefing on July 14.
“There should be expectations from Mr. Kellogg himself and his Ukrainian interlocutors,” Peskov told reporters, Caliber.Az reports, citign Russian media.
“For us, however, it is very important that Mr. Kellogg, as a representative of [US President Donald] Trump’s team, continues efforts to mediate within the framework of the Russian-Ukrainian settlement,” he added.
Kellogg arrived in the country by train ealier on Julyb 14 and is expected to remain for a week. His visit comes at a tense moment, as speculation grows that Trump may soon authorise his first direct military aid package to Kyiv—an unprecedented step by his administration.
On 9 July, Kellogg met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Rome on the sidelines of a reconstruction conference, where Zelenskyy reiterated calls for increased military assistance, particularly in air defence systems.
