Kuwait accuses IRGC-linked group of security breach on Bubiyan Island
Kuwait has strongly condemned the infiltration of an armed group affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) onto Bubiyan Island, allegedly with the intent to carry out “hostile acts against the State of Kuwait.”
The group engaged in a clash with Kuwaiti armed forces before being detained, resulting in the injury of one member of the Kuwaiti military, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Foreign Ministry stressed Kuwait’s demand that the Islamic Republic of Iran immediately and unconditionally cease its “illegal hostile activities,” which it said threaten regional security and stability and undermine regional and international de-escalation efforts.
Reaffirming Kuwait’s longstanding commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and its refusal to allow its territory or airspace to be used for hostile actions against any state, the ministry said Iran’s actions constitute a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait,” a “gross breach of international law and the UN Charter,” and “an open challenge to the international will and to UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.”
The statement added that Iran bears full responsibility for these actions and reaffirmed Kuwait’s “full and inherent right to self-defense” under Article 51 of the UN Charter, as well as its right to take any necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, people, and residents in accordance with international law.
Kuwait’s Interior Ministry said that individuals detained while attempting to enter the country by sea had confessed during interrogation to belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
