Kyiv seals major arms deal with Riyadh for interceptor missiles
A Saudi Arabian arms manufacturer has finalised a deal to purchase Ukrainian-made interceptor missiles, according to the Kyiv Independent.
Sources within Ukraine’s defence sector, speaking anonymously, indicated that Kyiv and Riyadh are also in talks over a separate, potentially “huge” arms agreement expected to be concluded this week.
One insider told the Kyiv Independent that a major contract could be announced as soon as March 11, while another confirmed that the air defence missile deal had already been signed, with a Saudi intermediary facilitating the transaction.
Efforts to reach the Saudi Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Saudi Embassy in Kyiv were unsuccessful by the time of reporting.
The developments come amid Iran’s recent air attacks on neighbouring Gulf States, which, in the context of the US and Israel-led operations against Tehran, have fueled a rush for advanced military equipment to counter ballistic missiles and Shahed drones.
