Kyrgyz embassy thanks Azerbaijan for citizens’ safe evacuation from Iran

Official at the Kyrgyz embassy in Iran Nazim Beyshekeev has said that the embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Iran extended its deep appreciation to the Azerbaijani government for facilitating the safe evacuation of Kyrgyz citizens amid escalating tensions in the region.

"On behalf of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Iran, I would like to extend our sincere thanks for the hospitality and assistance provided by the Azerbaijani government in facilitating the evacuation of Kyrgyz citizens through the Astara border crossing. We look forward to continued fruitful cooperation," Beyshekeev said, Caliber.Az reports via local media. 

He confirmed that 28 individuals—including diplomats and their family members—were successfully evacuated and had crossed the Azerbaijani border. A second group is expected to follow shortly.

"The evacuation was carried out safely. The situation in Iran remains tense. We hope that the parties will resolve their differences through dialogue," he added.

To recall, on June 13, Israel launched a large-scale airstrike targeting over 100 sites across Iran, including key nuclear and missile facilities in Tehran, Natanz, Ahvaz, and East Azerbaijan Province. The operation involved around 200 aircraft and more than 330 precision-guided munitions, aiming to halt Iran’s nuclear weapons development and eliminate senior IRGC commanders and scientists.

Israeli leaders described the strikes as a preemptive move against existential threats from Iran. Tehran blamed Israel and the US for the attack and vowed strong retaliation, launching over 100 drones towards Israel and closing its airspace.
