Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan seek to expand strategic collaboration
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov held talks with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, during which the two leaders discussed prospects for expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Japarov said that his state visit to Islamabad in December last year had opened a new chapter in Kyrgyz-Pakistani relations and strengthened political trust between the two countries. He noted that Kyrgyzstan views Pakistan as one of its priority partners in South Asia, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Kyrgyz presidential administration.
The Kyrgyz leader stressed the importance of regularly holding business forums, exhibitions, and B2B meetings, and reaffirmed his country’s readiness to implement joint projects in the halal industry, agricultural processing, logistics, tourism, energy, and manufacturing sectors.
For his part, Zardari expressed interest in expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and humanitarian affairs. He also congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, saying the role would enable the country to contribute to international peace and security.
At the conclusion of the talks, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular political dialogue and increasing contacts at all levels.
The sides also signed a Joint Statement that lays the groundwork for establishing a strategic partnership and further developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
