Kyrgyzstan proclaims defeat of organized crime following targeted security operations

26 August 2025 12:50

Kyrgyzstan has officially declared the eradication of organized crime within its borders, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s ongoing efforts to restore law and order.

This announcement was made by Kamchybek Tashiev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chairman of the State National Security Committee (GKNB), during a public meeting with residents of the Uzgen district in Osh region, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

Addressing concerns about criminal activity, Tashiev emphasized that the government maintains a zero-tolerance stance towards organized crime groups (OCGs) and will not engage in any negotiation or dialogue with their members. “The fight against organized crime is conducted strictly under the law,” he stated, underscoring the legal rigor and determination underpinning the government’s approach.

Tashiev further revealed that organized crime syndicates once held a pervasive presence across all rural communities in the Uzgen district. However, through a series of coordinated security measures, seven prominent gang leaders were apprehended. Notably, these individuals have since publicly renounced their criminal affiliations and ideologies, signaling a broader shift towards community stability and peace.
