Latvia readies largest drone shipment for Ukraine
Latvia is set to dispatch its largest batch of drones to Ukraine, marking a significant contribution to the ongoing conflict.
Latvian Defence Minister Andris Spruds announced via X (Twitter) that the shipment will include 1,400 drones from local manufacturers, a major part of Latvia's commitment to the Drone Coalition, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
According to Spruds, this delivery completes Latvia's acquisition of over 2,700 drones from its domestic industry for Ukrainian use. In total, Latvia has supplied Ukraine with 3,000 combat drones of various types and capabilities.
Spruds emphasized Latvia’s continued support, stating, “Together with Latvian companies, we will maintain our assistance until Ukraine achieves victory.”
Recently, Spruds also mentioned an earlier transfer of about 500 Latvian-made drones to Ukraine. Additionally, Latvia and Germany have agreed to jointly purchase drones to further support Ukraine, and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has highlighted plans to boost drone production collaboratively as part of the Drone Coalition.
