Latvian comedians to host charity show to fund vehicle for Ukrainian forces
Latvian comedians will host a charity event on April 30 in Riga aimed at raising funds for a vehicle for Ukrainian military personnel.
The show, titled “Smieklu lādiņš” (“Laughter Charge”), will take place at the “Tower” concert hall and is being organised by the charity group Tavi draugi, according to Delfi.
The evening program will feature several well-known Latvian performers, including Jānis Kreicmanis, Kalvis Troska, Rudolfs Kugrens, illusionist Edžus, and others. Organisers also plan to hold a charity auction with items including memorabilia, some of which was reportedly brought from the front lines in Ukraine.
Funds raised during the event will be used to purchase an SUV or minibus for a drone operator unit within Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces. The vehicles are intended for transporting troops, evacuating the wounded, and supporting frontline operations.
Last year, a similar fundraising campaign collected more than €21,000, which was used to purchase drones and equipment for the Ukrainian International Battalion.
Tavi draugi coordinates humanitarian assistance for Ukraine and provides support both to Ukrainian refugees in Latvia and to civilians affected by the war in Ukraine.
