Lawmaker: Russia sees no easing of ties with Armenia under Pashinyan
09 September 2026 11:01
Russia will not ease trade and economic relations with Armenia while Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan remains in power, Russian lawmaker Konstantin Zatulin has said.
Zatulin, deputy chairman of the State Duma’s Committee on CIS Affairs, said the deterioration in relations was linked to Yerevan’s policy of seeking alliances with Moscow’s opponents, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Despite periodic contacts, there will be no easing while Pashinyan remains in power,” Zatulin said.
He added that Russia would not give in to pressure from Armenia.
Zatulin also said he believed Pashinyan would not hold a referendum on Armenia joining the European Union because he feared losing it.
