Lithuania confirms drone that crashed in Varėna was Ukrainian
Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė confirmed that a drone that crossed Lithuanian airspace on March 23 and subsequently crashed and exploded in the Varėna district was Ukrainian.
According to Delfi, Ruginienė stated that the drone went off course during a Ukrainian operation against Russia.
“Today, we can confirm that the drone which entered our airspace and ended up in the Varėna district was Ukrainian. This is connected to an operation carried out by the Ukrainians that night against Russia,” she said.
The Prime Minister added that it is too early to identify the type of drone, which will be determined following the ongoing investigation.
Earlier reports indicated that a drone engine, likely from the Ukrainian UAV that exploded and fell into a local lake, was found in Varėna on March 23.
