Lithuania to install hundreds of new emergency warning sirens
Lithuania will install 275 new emergency warning sirens across the central and western parts of the country as part of a nationwide effort to expand its public alert system, the Interior Ministry has announced.
It said the entire procurement and installation project is worth more than €3 million, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“A public tender has been launched to carry out the work," the ministry noted.
Once the new sirens are installed, Lithuania's emergency warning network will expand to 1,448 units.
According to the ministry's plans, the system is expected to cover 75% of the population by 2029, up from the current 69%.
In September 2025, the ministry also ordered that the sirens be activated whenever drones deemed to pose a threat are detected in Lithuanian airspace.
