Lorry-minibus collision claims 12 lives in Kazakhstan VIDEO
A collision between a lorry and a passenger minibus near the village of Belkopa in Kazakhstan’s Samara–Shymkent highway has resulted in the deaths of twelve people.
The crash involved a DAF lorry and a “GAZelle” minibus, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakhstani media.
Preliminary reports suggest the lorry veered into the oncoming lane.
Police confirmed that both drivers and ten passengers of the minibus were killed at the scene. Five others were taken to the hospital for treatment.
An official investigation into the incident has been launched. Authorities confirmed that the minibus was operating a legal passenger service from the village of Zhurgenov to the regional centre.
Emergency teams and police are at the scene conducting investigations and necessary procedural actions.
The Aktobe regional administration reported that the injured were taken to Khromtau District Hospital, with three in critical condition and two in a serious but stable state.
