Lukashenko casts vote in Belarusian presidential election
Incumbent Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko cast vote in the presidential election.
The incumbent president and candidate in the election traditionally voted at polling station #1, located at the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture in Minsk, Caliber.Az reports via Belarussian media.
Moreover, the country’s Central Election Commission (CEC) shared via Telegram that voter turnout had reached 47.56 per cent by 10:00 (GMT+3).
A total of 5,325 polling stations were set up across the country on January 26. On the main election day, these stations are open from 8:00 to 20:00 (GMT+3).
The CEC registered incumbent Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich, chairman of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice Alexander Khizhnyak, individual entrepreneur Anna Kanopatskaya, and first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus Sergei Syrankov.
Early voting in the Belarusian presidential election took place from January 21 to 25. Voter turnout was relatively high, with 41.81 per cent of eligible voters casting their ballots.
