Lukashenko says Belarus may sell mine to US for minimum $3 billion
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has indicated that a Belarusian mine could be sold to the United States for at least $3 billion.
Lukashenko first raised the topic during the second session of the 7th All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, where he said he had offered the US the opportunity to purchase Belarusian potash and oil for transport to America, Caliber.Az reports via Belta.
When asked by journalists about the status of the potential deal, the president said that American officials are considering the proposal, but emphasised that $3 billion would be the minimum price. He added that Belarusian authorities would calculate reserves and other factors, which could make the final price higher.
The Belarusian leader also highlighted what he described as US sensitivity to costs, saying that while the Americans are wealthy, they are reportedly reluctant to pay large sums or even “normal amounts,” with many seeking access at minimal or no cost.
