Russian ballistic missile strike kills railway worker in Kyiv
A Russian ballistic missile strike on a railway facility in Kyiv’s Darnytsia district killed one railway employee overnight on August 22, according to Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the board of Ukraine’s state railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia.
Pertsovskyi said a railway facility in Darnytsia was hit during a series of Russian strikes, while a railway station in the Odesa region was also damaged, Caliber.Az reports.
“Another night of Russian strikes on the railway. In Darnytsia, one of the railway facilities was hit by ballistic missiles. Simultaneously [or even a second before – we are currently establishing the details] with the emergence of the ballistic threat,” Pertsovskyi said.
A railway foreman was killed at the scene, while other employees were evacuated shortly after the first strike.
The station building at Razdelnaya station was damaged, according to Pertsovskyi.
Ukrainian authorities are continuing to assess the damage caused by the strikes.
