Macron to pay state visit to Armenia following EPC Summit in Yerevan
French President Emmanuel Macron is set to pay a state visit to Armenia on May 5, Armenian officials have announced.
The visit will follow the summit of the European Political Community, scheduled to take place in Yerevan on May 4, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan highlighted the significance of both the summit and Macron’s subsequent visit during a meeting with the French Ambassador to Armenia, Olivier Decottignies.
According to a statement from the Armenian government, the two sides discussed a range of bilateral issues, including French participation in the construction of the Sisian–Kajaran road section, part of the broader North–South transport corridor project.
Macron’s upcoming trip will mark his second visit to Armenia, following his first in October 2018. Armenian media had previously reported that the French leader was expected to visit on September 21, 2023, coinciding with the country’s Independence Day, although that trip did not materialise.
