Major Russian oil refinery in Kuibyshev burning after overnight attack PHOTO
The Kuibyshev oil refinery in the Russian city of Samara caught fire following an overnight attack, according to open-source intelligence analysis by the outlet ASTRA.
Residents in the Samara region reported a series of explosions during the night of June 10, while the regional governor warned of a missile threat, according to local accounts cited by ASTRA.
“According to ASTRA’s analysis of footage from eyewitnesses, the Kuibyshev refinery in Samara was attacked and is burning,” the outlet said.
The facility is one of the largest oil industry enterprises in the region and forms part of Rosneft, Russia’s state-controlled oil company.
The refinery has been targeted multiple times in recent years. ASTRA noted that it was previously attacked in January 2026. In August 2025, operations at the plant were suspended after a drone strike. Earlier still, in March 2024, unmanned aerial vehicles damaged one of the refinery’s processing units, forcing a halt to its production cycle.
No immediate official confirmation of the extent of the damage or casualties was available.
